Lost Music Saloon: March 14, 2011: 5-7:00 p.m.: St. Patrick’s/Irish presents:
Today's Lost Music Saloon celebrates St. Paddy's Day with an Irish-and-Green-themed show. But I'll start with a fond farewell to Joe Morello who passed away over the weekend. Joe was Dave Brubeck's drummer for many, many years. Even though the Saloon isn't a jazz show, the Dave Brubeck combos, along with 50's-era Miles Davis, and the jazz-fusion group Weather Report, were among my fave initial jazz outfits when I first started listening to jazz back in the 70's. So please forgive my personal indulgence and don't worry…I'll get right to some Irish-flavored tunes in short order!
