“Looking up to Rob Halford" Read By: Josh Sturgill

Rob Halford, born in 1951, is best known as the English lead vocalist for the Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band, Judas Priest.  Now huge in the heavy metal world, he’s earned the nickname, “Metal God.” A song of the same name appeared in their 1980s album, “British Steel.”
Halford’s legendary stint with Judas Priest spanned nearly 20 years. It all started when Halford met co-founding Judas Priest member Ian Hill, who at the time was dating Halford’s sister.  Halford came on board, bringing with him drummer John Hinch, who had performed with him in the band, Hiroshima.
Halford’s first single with Judas Priest, “Rocka Rolla,” debuted in August of 1974.
Releasing a virtual storm of music in the 1980s, both the band and Halford underwent a transformation in 1990.

More about that tomorrow.
