Banji Kaicho presents:
Isao Yukisada’s 1998 directorial debut OPEN HOUSE is a surprising discovery for me from last year. One would applaud for its stunning lighting cinematography (some of the best you would find in Japanese movies, the fact that Yukisada has long served as assistant director to Shunji Iwai, tells one thing or two). Eihi Shiina is simply gorgeous in it. MOKU’s music is nothing but precise and touching for a soft and melancholy story. I put some more ambient, folk and acoustic music in between its clips, plus extra bday energy (tmrw!), to make this a special limited screening event. See you at the house.
