Real Splashy Radio presents:

The Creature Alfred & I take a casual yet long walk down memory lane. Breaking down previous works, recanting with tales of house show horror stories, and reflecting on past influences! We went in-depth on tips and advice they would give to themselves as a freshman in art school, now that they’re an alum with a solid portfolio of commission work. Listen along to hear about the Nicki Minaj homages and the hissy-fit hiatus. Where have we been and where are we going? The conversation took a turn into self-awareness at some point. Find out about the upcoming-super-exclusive-yet-to-be-released mixtape ready to drop at any point now and much more on this weeks special episode! Featuring music from local favorites and artists from around the globe on Real Splashy Radio <33333

Cause and Effect presents:

cat with long curly haired wig

Today’s show is dedicated to the recently departed, Ronnie Spector, born Veronica Yvette Bennett (August 10, 1943 – January 12, 2022), on 151st Street in Spanish Harlem. The powerhouse American singer with famed gritty yet vulnerable voice formed the girl group the Ronettes in 1957 with her elder sister, Estelle Bennett, and their cousin, Nedra Talley. The Ronettes started off as a more demure trio called The Darling Sisters and then Ronnie and the Relatives before blossoming into the trendsetting, hit-making, teased hair wearing, eyeliner smudging rockers they are remembered as today. In 1963, they joined forces with “Wall of Sound” producer Phil Spector who contributed to their soaring success and subsequent downfall. But in true survivor fashion, Ronnie broke free from Spector’s Svengali-like snare and re-invented herself and her career in the 70s, 80s, and early 2000s. Like her resilient voice and spirit, Ronnie’s lasting legacy on rock n roll is one for the ages. RIP, Ronnie. The higher the hair, the closer to god!

InterTribal presents:

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Yuletide, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Hanukkah (for all who celebrated that holiday at the start of this month)

No matter how you celebrate this time of year, I wish you all good health, joy, laughter, love, happiness and peace.

This show is full of holiday music. I think this was the most music I have been able to find performed by indigenous musical artists. I hope you have a blessed morning and build beautiful memories.

Happy Holidays to you all.

InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

Today we celebrate the Winter Solstice and anticipate the Holiday of Christmas. I can remember when I was a child I used to write greeting cards that had Yuletide written on them. I also remember asking my mother about Seasons Greetings. What it meant and why would it be used.

She explained, if you wish to give a holiday greeting to a stranger, but you did not know what holiday they celebrated it would be polite to say “seasons greetings”. “It was a sign of respect”, she said. Today people get so up in arms about people who say “Happy Holidays”. These are not statements of war against your beliefs, these statements are signs of openness and welcoming the existence of  those who believe different than you.

Happy Holidays to each and everyone.

Walk in Peace,
Tall Feathers

InterTribal presents:

Good morning and welcome to your weekend.

This Saturday is the last one we have in November. Thanksgiving has been honored and many people went out bargain hunting yesterday.

The music selected to day brings a mix of fun, somber, and holiday cheer. Now that the threshold for holiday music has been crossed, playing as much or as little holiday music is fair game.

This past week Joanne Shenandoah left this world and joined the ancestors. While many of us are mourning Joanne’s death I wanted to begin to plan a tribute show soon. So stay posted for the details soon.

Today there won’t be an official This Week in Indian Country. Instead I hope the music will speak for itself as a reflection of the history on this land.

Blessings to each and everyone of you.
