Finding Sounds presents:

Today is july 16 2024 and it is episode 33 of finding sounds. Our jesus year episode
Todays show is in two parts. The first section features a 40 min audio collage on the “State Of Radio” – found audio clips describing the current state of mainstream radio, from it’s homogenization in the 90s to Clear Channel, Sinclair, iHeart Radio, Audacy then finally its recent en masse acquisition by Soros group which is currently happening. Something different from our usual program.
But after that we return to normal programming which is an hour and twenty minutes mix of my July ambient selections. A cool, calming sound bath, a time for reflection in overwhelmingly troubling times. You can find the tracklisting on wrir then later on the finding sounds archive on soundcloud.
Thank you for tuning in to finding sounds on wrir

Hello

We made it to episode 30. This episode features very talented visual and audio wizard, SA Mayer, who also happens to be a good friend of mine. For this one, his half of the show was a mix including some recent rare CD rips, chants from the Decrees, TNT Roots dub, and much more hidden gems, including 4 new productions by him. For my half, I did the usual–mostly newly released music from rare artists, mostly ambient but it gets groovy. There is a new Pinecone Moonshine release on there, and some deep-fried internet baile remixes. So its not too lofty. There is also no tracklist for this episode per SA’s request. Anyway, enjoy, thank you for listening. Happy to have made it this far. Is this thing on?

Much love,

deskulling

Hello

Here we are with episode 29. The first hour of this show features Boëthius, an Ankara-based musician/composer. We go way back first making contact on the internet exchanging tunes and talking shop. I have always thoroughly enjoyed their music and energy. In his hour, he plays a selection of songs while over it he discusses music and it’s connectivity, sitting down versus standing up, and how crazy this all is.

The second hour features my label, formforum, and a mix I made only from tracks out on the platform. formforum is an open platform label, built off of the user-submissions and small networks of musicians internationally. There are many release on the label which you can find on bandcamp and soundcloud (and below). We have two compilation, ‘Deaccession Forms’ and an all snare sample compilation, ‘Snares’. formforum is nothing without its contributors and for that I am forever grateful for how this all worked out, and for the depth of people’s love for the music. Boëthius also just released an album via formforum called ‘Echoes’.

Enjoy the music, and thank you for listening

For episode 26, I am joined by newest WRIR resident DJ, Mnemonic. For the first hour, they introduce their lineage of work, mostly taken place here in Richmond. Electro-acoustic, new jazz, noise music, whatever you want to call it they bring sound exploration to the forefront. Thank you for being on Finding Sounds Mnemonic. Be on the look out for their show/fill-in work.

The second hour, I did a mix including some new music I have found from labels such as Editions Gravats, Transatlantic, and Heat Crimes. There is a bunch of other tunes in there. This one is a mix so its a bit choppy and played with. Enjoy the music.

Thank you for listening <3

Finding Sounds presents:

Hello,

For the first hour of this episode of Finding Sounds, we paid tribute to the late Phill Niblock who recently passed. I played 5 drones in his honor.

The second hour, our guest A’naja paid tribute to Muslimgauze, a UK musician who is also no longer with us. But left a wide-ranging legacy of music to scour.

Blissed out and heavy tracks. Enjoy this one!

Finding Sounds is the first and third Tues of every month, 1-3 pm EST

Thank you for listening
